Order: Lepidoptera
Family: Nymphalidae
Subfamily: Nymphalinae
Genus: Melitaea
Species: M. didyma

The Spotted Fritillary (Melitaea didyma) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is found primarily in Southern and Central Europe.
The wingspan is 35-50 mm. The butterfly flies from April to September depending on the location.
The larvae feed on various plants, including Linaria, Plantago lanceolata, Veronica, Centaurea jacea and Digitalis purpurea.

Descrizione

Hi Luciano,
great, this fiery Fritillary. Your note is very useful. I wonder wether the double row of points on the abdomen is also distinctif.
Thanks for your comment on the flying White, you seem to know by experience that automatic focussing is not useful for macros.
Have a good day, Dieter

Bonjour Luciano,

Pierre

The orange and green have a unique contrast, not in may subject we see this and here it looks like sparkling, well composed and depth. Beautiful click.
