I found this Newt after Julie almost stepped on him on the trail we were hiking on. We both had to delete photos on our cameras to get a photo of this little guy.

I'm not sure exactly what kind of Newt he is, I looked at a web site to decide and can't seem to tell. I think he's a rough skinned newt.

Here is a link to the web site so maybe you can tell. Amphibian Checklist and Identification Guide

For this photo I only resized and sharpened +0
and added a frame.

That turned out really good! Nice clear focus and you got his whole body and tail in the photo. The mossy rock really made a nice background for him too.

So this is a newt. He's nicely posed on the moss Lori. I guess he is quite small. Good composition. Well done.

Halo Lori!
Perfect shot with a contrast between brown and green! Superb shot and great pose of your newt hugged to the moss. Good job!

Excelent capture and well composed. The Newt is crisp, detailed. Well done.

Great shot, pose and details.
Well done.

Great capture Lori! Very interesting subject. I love its long tail, green, mossy BG. Textures and details are excellent. Good to hear that you both didn't stepped on this beautifull animal.

nice Newt. It contrasts very good with the yellow background.

Exelent photo.

Here is your points.

Hi Lori,

I thought I would unveil the mystery of this creature's name, it is a Rough Skinned Newt (Taricha granulosa granulosa). These are commom throughout the Pacific Northwest, from southern Alaska all the way down into northern California. I used to catch these really cool creatures when I was a kid. Great image of this newt too, the lighting and the sharpness of the image all well done. :)

Great shot, composition and all other details. Perfect colours. Well done.
