It gets to measure a meter of tail head and grief up to 10 kilograms. It has a long, cleared and heavy tail that allows him to ipulse itself better in the water. Its coat is reddish coffee color formed by two layers, first is heavy and excels of the shorter other and smooth, both make a cover impermeable.
The back legs are composed by feet of five fingers united by a membrane that they facilitate to him swimming, that is very good, unlike the hands whose fingers are very agile, allowing to handle the food with ability.
Perfectly adapted to the water, coipo is vegetarian and with his great incisors, on orange color, it is preferredly fed on seaweed of the bottom of the water and, when it feels safe, on grass to tier and stems that find near the border. Its life is preferredly nocturnal and during the day it hides in floating nests constructed by the same one with totoras, batros and other plants. These nests have the entrance under the water.
Coipos was excessively hunted by his appraised skin during century XIX and principles of century XX what produced a diminution in its amount, nevertheless continue being abundant by their great fertility because the female can have three litters of four to ten young by year. The abundance of the species depends on the arrival of waters and vegetation growth.
This one was photographed to about 10 meters with camera Zenith and lens of 300 mm., it was resting over Pistia stratiotes, an floating plant.
That year was abundance of coipos due to the floods and the abundance of aquatic vegetation.

In Hooland it is a gift when you meet an otter in wild, there are only a few left. Therefor a find this a good post and thanks for it.
