[Note Guidelines]
A Yellow-spotted Blue (Candalidea xanthospilos) from the Lycaenidae Family. Curiously this species has no blue in its colour scheme. The upper surface is brown with the characteristic yellow-orange spot. The under surface is white with a few black dots. They have a 24mm winigspan.

This species in well distributed through coastal southeastern Australia in open eucalypt woodland and forest with a heath understorey.

This one is feeding from the flowers of its favourite larval food plant the native Rice Flower (Pimelea linifolia).

Hi
I like your photo. Pretty good sharpnes very nice colors. I am wondering why there is guide to dragonflies in your note and why the photo is a part of the theme "Birds of Australia" :-)
Best wishes
Krzysztof

Hello Chris,
Excellent shot of this butterfly.
The POV used let us appreciate the pattern of the wings with that yellow spots on it.
The background adds somethig extra to the photo, with that particular color which makes a vibrant contrast.
Well balanced, nice composition, I like the frame used also.
Congratulatons and regards,
JM

Hi Chris,
wonderful capture of this butterfly. Great PoV and DoF to highlight the details of the insect. The soft, brown background contrasts beautifully against both the plant's green and the butterfly's yellow. I wish the composition was slightly different though because I have the feeling that the butterfly is goint to leave the frame any moment now :-)
TFS,
Stavros

Hi,
Good POV! The colors and exposure are excellent, on the composition front i would have given more space in the direction of head and not in the back( This is just a personal view and not a nit really)

Very well done, Chris.

Hello Chris,
This is a beaut! Again a species new to me.
Sharp, well presented and with an interestingly coloured BG. The diagonal composition of the twig in one direction and the b-fly in the other is very effective.
Well done!
TFS, regards, Ivan

This is a uniquely different species of the Blue, perhaps seen for the first time on TN, Chris.
Lovely image that exhibits all the charateristics mentioned in your note.
Good POV, DOF, colours and composition.
TFS.

Hello Chris,
a well focused and sarp picture of this little beauty. By the point of view, you artfully suppressed the broken right forewing which is not noticed at first glance. Composition and colours are pretty good.
Best wishes, Peter

Hello Chris,
This is a real beauty, so small and with the large yellow markings on the wings! Pretty sharp and nice colours. I really like the composition too even though the background is a bit strange.

Hello Chris,

Nice picture of this little butterfly which will use his colors for camouflage, I'm pretty sure... It is the first time I saw a butterfly of this family: Lycaenidae! Thank you very much for sharing that picture with us...
