I took my grandson Travis up to Magee Marsh today to see if there were any migrating birds around. There were a few species present, but it was very windy and cold. Not many birds have shown up for their annual migration so far, but hopefully things will start to pick up.

We did manage to see this American Woodcock from just a few feet away. This was actually one of the first birds we saw early in the morning hidden in the thick underbrush. We had to literally get down to ground level just to see this cute little guy who was searching for earth worms in the damp soil.

Its bill suggests it has been at work, Ron.
Woodcock is a good looking bird with those beautiful markings and colors and your picture shows them pretty well.
Regards.

Hi Ron,

You have captured the Woodcock from a nice POV. The details in the picture does convey the mood that the Woodcock was in (at it's breakfast table).

Thanks for sharing the lovely image.

Warm Regards,
Satirtha
