This young bald eagle is perched on the nest of either a cormorant or a great blue heron on an island in the middle of the Potomac River a mile or so upstream from Great Falls. Something about that red cloth was intensely interesting - I thought the eagle was killing nestlings at the time.

Taken from a great distance. Heavy crop.

Hello Alan,
What a neat shot showing this juvenile Eagle in the nest of another bird. Perhaps you are right and it is raiding the nest for dinner reasons. Either way this is something you don't see every day let alone get a photo of the event. Well done!!
