This little Jumping Spider reminded me of the character Darth Vader from the Star Wars movie. He was a bugger trying to focus on, I now know first hand why they are called jumping spiders.
From what I've read they are harmless, but they still look pretty intimidating to me with those fang-like jaws.
This guy's or (girl's) eyes amazed me, because they actually seemed to glow when the sun hit at just the right angle. I had hoped it would show up, but this photo didn't capture it.
After he allowed me to take his picture he turned and jumped to the ground and went on his merry little way.

Hi Ron,

Very cool spider shot, just look at those fangs! Spectacularly colorful due to the background, good and sharp, but might have been good to stop down to f/11 or f/16 for a bit more depth of field, but I'm nitpicking, it's an excellent shot as-is.

I took a look at my spider book, your spider might be a Bold Jumper, Phidippus audax, can't say for sure.

Wow! You used the black against red so well...it really adds and almost if there were green,. look seasonal for winter...but never the less a fine image for a close in like this and your gear. Fine capture Ron....I see you are keeping Ohio in good natural shape:-)

Hi Ron,
It's an excellent POV, and the orange color makes a striking BG
Good details also..Just needs a bit of fill flash, especially with these black jumpers.
Well done & have a nice weekend,

I love the title! h aha
Great details here - a fabulous macro!

Another superb catch, Ron. Darth Vader? Yes! By all means! Too bad the red background didn't extend in front of this guy. It would have been so much more dramatic! But then you caught what you could in the time you could. Great Shot!!!
