As I stated in earlier posts it is the light and the trees around Bishop, in addition to the wonderful Sierra setting, that I find so appealing. I took this from our campsite just east of Bishop and just as the sun was about to sink behind the Sierra in back of me. One thing that is interesting about these trees, mostly cottonwood and willow, is that they are the last of their kind. By that I mean there are no young trees. In the early 1900's the Los Angeles Water District diverted so much water from the Owen's Valley to L.A. that I suspect that is the reason for the habitat change. Each year wind, or fire claims a few more of the trees and one day I suspect there will be no more. I really like the effect of the super wide angle lens on this scene. I think the central placement of the subject works well here, and I like the way the light and clouds put these trees at "center stage". I tried to find a medium brightness for this image so that it would not be too dark for PC users and not too light for Macs... so it is probably not right for either!

Hi Evelynn,

This is a nice photo, but it could have been a really good one. The exposure, color, and sharpness are excellent. The clouds that almost appear to be radiation out from the tree add interest. Unfortunately, photos with the main subject centered in the frame are rarely an effective composition.

TFS, Joel

Hi Evelynn, great big trees, splendid contrast with blu sky, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hello Evelynn,
What a beautiful photo! Beautiful sky, love the big trees in the center, nicely placed horizon. I like the soft colors. TFS

Thanks for your comments on my photo " Morning Relections (20)" :o)

Hello Evelynn,
This composition in my personal opinion works excellently centered as the clouds are radiating from the old cottonwood. This is a well exposed, sharp and very lovely capture, thanks Evelynn.

I hate the desert, but you make it look like heaven. Being in art of so many years really shows.

Hello Evelynn

This shot has a lot of atmosphere.I like how the clouds seem to emanate from the trees .The BG mountains are beautiful and the colour of the sky is balanced nicely by the taupe of the foreground. The focus and details are your usual razor sharp.A very beautiful image.TFS

Hi Evelynn,
Beautiful!! I love the bare trees and the lighting on them is superb. Great composition and excellent details and the shadows on the hills are lovely too! Looks a very barren landscape. Well done and TFS
Cheers Tina :-)

"Center Stage" is a very effective here, Evelynn.
Good choice of placement.
The central position accentuates the "radiating" effect of the clouds and light.
It is awesome,
The brightness you compromised on works great on my Mac. : )
I really like th texture and the sharpness of details on the tree,
A beautiful composition.
TFS. ; )

Evelyn....I sure like the way the clouds form that sort of spray around the tree. Good eye!

Hi Evelynn.
Very beautiful. That sky makes a great backdrop and the trees are so dramatic. Lovely colour and light. Well done.
Regards, Steve.

Hi Evelynn,

Hi Evelynn,
I liked the perspective and the DOF a lot. Colors, composition, textures and the light is very good. TFS

Hi Evelynn,
I agree, both centered compositions work. Its just that you need something else to balance the composition. Here it are all the different diagonal lines in the FG and cloud formation. Talk about the clouds...they are really magnificent. The two tone color and light is marvelous.

P.S. you might want to update you lens type, its an EX i.o EG :)

Hello Evelyn,

I think you have your own style of picture, when i selected this i haven't seen your name, but when i saw the picture i thought it's like Evelynn's picture. Once again the picture is really good, sharpness, composition and colour are 10/10. TFS.

Hi Evelynn

Magnificent photo! The tones, colors, lights and shadows here are all outstaning!
You can really see by the look of these three that they are really old...and that actually enhances teh mood of this beautiful composition. Seaking of compo, initially i was a bit surprised to see a centered one, but looking at it again, i agree with the fact that it probably works best.
The exposure here is more than spot-on...it's perfect. You managed it so well that you kept excellent details and colors in every aspect of the photo.
The sky in the BG is also gorgeous and the diffused shape of those clouds really enriches the compo.
All-in-all: a superb job!

Bravo and TFS
