|A gift to all the butterfly and moth fans out there:) The Attacus atlas "Atlas Moth"|
A picture i thought was lost when i accidentally formatted my sd card.
The story of this Grand beauty is a little sad. Back to place where i found them, believe me there are around 95 or more fully grown caterpillars found eating at guava and soursop trees almost all of them i found was caught and burned by the people around that area, i was shocked to see many caterpillars being burned alive in open fire because according to them they are pests. It was too late for me and only managed to save 7 that was still alive and unhurt :(. I've picked the caterpillars carefully one by one and decided to leave the place immediately. I never knew that the caterpillars are the Atlas moth after searching around the internet based on the burned branch of trees they are burned. And yes they are the "Attacus atlas". I put the caterpillar to guava tree back in my mother's backyard and there i observed their transformation. It took almost 5 weeks for them before they emerged from their cocoon and this one is one of them. I was really in awe seeing them emerged while waited hrs for them to fully expand their wings. This one right here is a massive beauty is approximately 11"x 7" size and managed to took a shot before it flies away. I didn't got a really perfect shot at this cause its starts flapping and moving around when its disturbed. Setting them free and seeing them fly away made me really happy and hoping people will find in their hearts to treat them not as pest but a gift to us and to the nature.
Editing done: Just reduced the size to fit for TN
Hope you all like the photo and enjoy trekking the beauty around us! Have a nice day Everyone!

Ciao Arman, really a great gift, thanks, great macro of fantastic butterfly, wonderful natural colors, fine details and splendid sharpness, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio
Beautiful species and very informative note. The photo's spectacular, too, however I find the crop too tight, I mean the wings of the moth are too closed to the edge of the frame. Thanks for sharing the story and the photo.
Kind regards from Ireland, László
