The Crested Francolin (Dendroperdix sephaena) is a species of bird in the Phasianidae family. It is found in Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

It’s about 32 cm.

The call is a shrill ‘kwerri-kwetchi’, ‘kwerri-kwetchi’ sounding like ‘beer and cognac, beer and cognac’. Pairs of small groups in bushveld, broad-leaved woodland, thickets near rivers and forest fringes, mostly keeping within cover.
